Love the walkthrough of how you evaluated the sponsorship! I wish all sponsored posts were case studies like this.
I wonder if I could use this to generate iconography for my vegetable gardening tracker - I’m using emojis to represent different plants, which is a great v1, but I’d love something more stylized and to be able to visually represent different stages of the plant lifecycle. 🤔
Thanks, Karo. This is so timely. Working on this very thing, and a task popped up this morning to remind me to research Recraft. Now I have a head start!
I hadn’t heard of Recraft before, but I have this funny reflex with canvas-based products — I immediately want to try them 🤣. Also really appreciated how thoughtfully you handled the sponsorship.
I love how you approach the test and define your hypothesis and the success and fail criteria. Im always aiming for this format but have never seen someone else using it so explicitly. Really really cool 🥰
Going to try this. I've been experimenting with ChatGPT's image creation feature and I've been super impressed about how fast it is evolving (it used to hallucinate 10x more than now). Keep these coming!
I still love Canva the best and there is so much you can do even with a free account! But always good to know the other players! And just using AI generated pictures in one style is a very basic and limiting way to think of your visual identity and standing out
I appreciate this post, and to be up front, I struggle with using a graphic avatar rather than a pic of me, I have in the past used the cartoon image of myself on other projects and I shifted to being more inside as me in my own thumbnails. I don't know where to go, but this post got me thinking in a new direction, thanks.
I’d follow whatever feels most *you* visually. Keeping yourself in the imagery could be a signature part of your style 🤗 I’ve seen other creators lean into that and it really works. If you play with a few options, please share, I genuinely get excited about projects like this.
Ooh something new to try!! 🤩 Thank you for such a great walk through, Karo. I really enjoyed the read! The "scale with consistency" part really sells it for me. Can't wait to give it a whirl!
I love the way you make clear statements about the sponsorship! And this arrives just in time, because I've been thinking a lot about creating a consistent image identity. Well, time for stop thinking and start doing!
Thank you Diana and thank you for reading! the only way to be fair to readers AND to ourselves is full transparency, I think. Let me know how it goes with Recraft! 🤗
Karo, this is the absolute playbook for how to involve sponsorships in a meaningful, engaging, and educational manner. If I'm so fortunate enough to get sponsorship for the Slow AI Substack over the coming year, this is definitely the approach I am going to be taking.
Thanks once again for shining so brightly for the rest of us to follow.
Thanks so much, Karo. That's a really kind thing to say. I probably spend more time writing comments than I do writing Substack posts, but for me, it's my favourite part of engaging on this platform.
Karo, this looks like the AI Meets Girlboss dreamhouse! The amount of time I'd spend playing with visuals... I love Nano Banana, but it drives we crazy when trying to apply brand consistency to other types of images like icons or infographics. I'll certainly check this out, added to my to do list!🩷🦩
I knew you're going to like this one heheh 🤗 I forgot to mention that you can also use Nano Banana from within Recraft, they have many different models to choose from.

That's a really good test actually. I haven't tried anything with veggies yet. Let us know how it goes 🤗
And thank you for your comment about how I work with sponsorships, I appreciate it.

I definitely need to check Recraft out! Thanks for the recommendation. I need help with my visuals!
That's great! I hope you enjoy it too. It's giga addictive tbh 😂

I know what you mean! I wish all apps were just infinite, searchable canvas 😂 And on sponsorship - I really believe that transparency is the only way.

Thank you for reading Miria! Glad you enjoyed it!

Canva is a great tool too, that's true.
You've got me as always! I definitely feel like I need this tooling 🌞

I appreciate it so much, thank you Sam, I’m honestly getting a bit addicted to your comments heheh 😂
But truly, being fair to readers AND to ourselves means transparency is the only way forward.

Yes, I checked yesterday, it looks like the developers thought this through! 🩷🦩
How great that you started testing it already!
Yep. I'm on a mission to find a way to make branded infographics with AI. 🩷🦩
A tool I hadn’t heard of—thanks!
My pleasure! Thank you for reading.
Thanks, Karo.
My pleasure, thank you for reading 🤗
Fantastic! One more tool I need to check up on.
Let me know what you think!
